The Victory That Overcomes

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” (Eph. 6:10). Scriptures like this cannot be comprehended with the natural mind. We have to lay hold with our spirit man. God’s Word to us is, “My children, you can be strong in My Son, Jesus. He is Mighty and you can be strong in His mighty power. You can be strong in the Holy Ghost.” This power created the galaxies; their planets and ours; all living creatures; and the complex beings that we live in, our bodies. We, the born again, have this power on the inside of us. It is surely a “mystery.”

Ephesians 1:19 tells us that we can know “what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe according to the working of his mighty power.” The Holy Spirit is working mightily, but His power is extended to us only as we believe His Word. Too often, we believe our circumstances and thoughts that satan attempts to bombard us with. If we truly know the Power, the Holy Ghost, we would be at rest in the confidence of who we are in Christ Jesus. The Word “know” is intimate oneness with the Lord by the working of the Holy Spirit. Do we spend time with Him in worship, praise, meditation, and being still in His Presence?

The heavenly Father says in Ephesians 1:20-22 that Jesus Christ has been “set at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.” Now, Eph. 2:6 tells the child of God that He “hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Church, Jesus is the Head, and we are His body. We are His hands, His feet, the vessels who carry His will, His power throughout the whole earth. Praise God! No wonder that we are told in I John 4:4, “Ye are of God, little children and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” II Cor. 6:14 & 15 says, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?” We have been given the gift of righteousness; Jesus’ righteousness. (Rom. 5:17). We are not to be yoked with unrighteousness. Jesus is the light of the world; but He now shines through us, so we are the light of the world. (Jn. 8:12; Mt. 5:14). The later contrast, is he that believeth with an infidel. We do not fellowship with unbelievers. Finally, look at “what concord hath Christ with Beliah?” This statement is still about us? Jesus does not fellowship with any demon or idol anyway. “Christ” is talking about the anointed of the Lord. We are so “one” with Him we are called “Christ”.

Yes, in Christ Jesus, we are strong in His mighty power. Satan does not want us to know that. We may have head knowledge of that Truth, but we must believe in our hearts. Heart knowledge declares the Word with confidence that our Lord will perform it. Heart knowledge demands of the devil to get under our feet in Jesus’ name. Heart knowledge is the victory that overcomes.
