The Spirit Beckons You (Part III)

Second Timothy 3:1 says, “This know also, that in the last days perilous (dangerous) times shall come.” We are certainly experiencing troublesome times with our weather systems but also in our world. Just recently, New York voted to give homosexual couples the same rights as a married heterosexual couple (a man and a woman). America, do you not realize that the sin of homosexuality was a predominant factor in God allowing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah? The Spirit beckons you to return to the Lord and repent of your sins (Gen. 19). Oh, but that Scripture is in the Old Testament. New Testament reveals that homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God. (I Cor. 6:9&10). God loves the homosexual but hates the sin of homosexuality (Lev. 20:13). He wants them to come to Him repenting of the sin and find deliverance from this uncleanness.

We saw in our July issue newsletter the Scriptures found in Romans 8. Verse 19 says that the whole creation waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be revealed. “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves, also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body” (Rom. 8:22&23). Do you ever sense a longing in your Spirit for things to be different? We see people suffer with pain, sickness, disease, and emotionally. There is iniquity all around us with injustice on every side. Do you long to have a new body; experience the splendors of Heaven; and to finally see Jesus and our loved ones already in that eternal home? I know that I certainly do.

We may even feel guilty for the “groaning and travailing” within us. Shouldn’t we be at peace as Scripture promises? The children of God have the first fruits of the Holy Spirit; a foretaste of the joys to come. Yes, we groan within waiting for the full blessings and privileges of our adoption. We are created for glory and you can be sure to know it’s coming. Amen! Until then, verses 25 says that we wait patiently (singe-minded on God’s Word). Verse 26 in the Amp. Bible says, “So too the Holy Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness: for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.” What do we do with our “groaning and travailing”? We release it to God by the Holy Spirit in prayer; esp. praying in other tongues. Then, He promises to “take hold together with us to help us.” "Who shall ever separate us from Christ’s love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword? Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.” (Rom. 8:35-39) We are “more than conquerors” because our Lord has provided for us complete triumph over sin, death, and hell, and assurance that every single enemy is subdued.
