Satan Shall Not Prevail Over Me
Have you noticed that when you visit the beach front that the shore line remains the same year after year. The same hotels that were built there near the waters, still stand in their original place. How can this be when you have such a vast amount of water as far as the eyes can see, with waves coming in one right after another? …Because the Creator God said so. We read in Jeremiah 5:22, “Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?” The oceans simply have been told to stay in the bounds that God decreed to them. The Lord asks us, “Will you not reverence me in Who I am? Look at My greatness.”
Listen to my little story: There was a little grain of sand, and he looked up at the big wave that came down upon him over and over. One day the wave said, “Hello, little sand. You sure are small.” The grain of sand said, “Yes, I am quite small.” The wave roared “…But look how big and strong that I am. I’m a lot stronger than you.” The grain of sand said, “Yes, you are big and strong, but you can’t prevail over me. You see the Lord placed a perpetual decree in my little heart that you can’t prevail over me.” The wave roared still louder, “Oh, yes, I can.” So, he pulled in some of the other waves, and a gigantic wave was formed, spilling over the grain of sand and poured into the city and into the streets. …But there was a little voice declaring through the waters over and over, “But, you gotta go back; you gotta go back; you gotta go back; you gotta go back…” And soon the wave had moved back into the bounds of the sea. The little grain of sand said, “See, big wave, I told you, you can’t prevail over me.”
Our God has given to us a “perpetual decree” in His Holy Word. It is a forever statute; an everlasting covenant. What He has said, He will do. We must take Him at His Word.
Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus came to this world; the world that He created by His spoken Word. He lived for 33 and one-half years a perfect life; a sinless life. He was crucified for no sin or wrong that He had done. He became your sin and mine; taking the punishment so that we could be free from sin’s penalty – hell. …But He declared through His Word, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:9&13). God’s perpetual decree is that we will receive salvation if we will but believe that Jesus was raised from the dead and receive Him as our personal Savior, making Him Lord of our life. Salvation? We are born again; becoming a new creation created in Christ. We are given all the promises of God that we see in His Word. 1 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”
Demons may be roaring against you, but I want to remind you, if you are a child of God, you have been given a perpetual decree that Jesus destroyed the works of the devil (1 Jn. 3:8). The perpetual decree says that no demon or his strategies or deceits are to prevail over you. He may roar at you like a lion, but we are commanded to resist him, in Jesus’ name (1 Pet. 5:9). We read in Jeremiah 1:19, “And they shall fight against thee: but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.” So, tell that devil, “You gotta go back, in Jesus’ name!”
