In His Presence
God instructed Moses in building the tabernacle in Exodus. One of the most significant furnishings was the Ark of the Covenant or Ark of Testimony. The table of the Ten Commandments was placed inside the Ark (Ex. 40:20) and above the Ark was the mercy seat with two cherubims that spread their two wings over the Ark (1 Kings 8:6&7). The tips of their wings touched high, covering the Ark. Their faces looked one to another towards the mercy seat (Ex. 25:20). God says, “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat from between the two cherubims which are upon the Ark of the Testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.” We even see in Numbers 7:89 that Moses “heard the voice of one (God) speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the Ark of Testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.” So, what does all of this have to do with us? I was recently in a conference, and the speaker referenced the cherubims. She did not elaborate this subject but to only express that the cherubims’ wings were touching and that the Presence of God met in the midst of them. That reminds us of Matthew 18:19&20 Amp., “For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them.” “God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, you shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you!” The speaker at the conference asked us to get in pairs, face each other, clasp our hands high, and pray. A lady came to me. I knew the horror that was going on in her life. We clasped our hands and raised them to the sky. I began to pray, and the power (the Kabod) of God came down into our midst. The I AM flowed into the lady, and she began to shake uncontrollably. She fell to the ground under the Power of God. All at once, the power hit me as well. It was like a bolt of lightning without the pain. I shook in every direction. I felt like a rag doll. I hit the floor and could not get up for a long time. This was the Kabod, the glory of His Presence, the weightiness of Who He is. How glorious; how awesome was this. Now, think with me. We were gathered in the “Name”; by His authority to promote His glory and in obedience to His command. Remember the testimony/covenant was in the Ark. We do what we do based on the Word; the covenant. We face the mercy seat. Hallelujah! …And God meets with us to carry out His Word. Wow! …The power of agreement in His Name to carry out what we agree upon!
