The Omega God Sees Our Future

Death is not a subject that we enjoy talking about, but it is a reality. Hebrews 9:27 says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die…” If Jesus tarries in His coming, it is a fact that we will die. The good news is that to the born again Christian, when he/she dies, they will immediately be with Jesus in a beautiful place called Heaven.

As a counselor, a minister, and from my personal experience, I see how traumatic a death can be. Not only that we grieve but we are faced with so many decisions concerning a funeral. If you have not been suddenly faced with this, you cannot imagine how difficult this is. My dad passed; and all at once, my sister and I had to make many decisions that we were not prepared for. What funeral home do we call, which casket, what cemetery do we use, what does he wear, who officiates the funeral service, etc.; and what does all of this cost?

I had recently been talking to the Lord that if He was going to tarry His coming, that I didn’t want my children to have to deal with the stress of what I had dealt with in my Dad’s death. I felt impressed to go to a local cemetery and speak with the funeral home director. I chose a cemetery where my grandparents, aunt, and uncle are buried. I knew that the lots for my grandparents were purchased in 1979 when my grandmother went to be with Jesus. I knew that this property must be already filled after so many years had passed. I went ahead and shared with the director the names of my grandparents (by the way, he was a Christian who watches our television program). He went to speak with his manager about the property. He returned, shaking his head. He said, “Well, I can’t believe this. …But, I know that I should.” I wanted to say, “Hurry up. What is it that you can’t believe?” Finally, he looked at us and said, “Do you remember the tree that was next to your grandparents’ lots?” I did, in fact, remember it. He said, “My manager had just written an order to have the tree removed because it is dead. The removal of the tree opens two burial spots next to your grandparents.” Needless to say, my tears poured with joy. I knew this was the Lord.

Thirty seven years ago, we broke that ground for my grandmother to be laid to rest. There was a thriving tree that shaded us at her grave side service as we grieved my grandmother and a few years later, my grandfather. All of these years, the tree lived, then died so that I could have the special place of being near my grandparents if I should pass before the coming of our Lord.

Our great God says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” God saw my desire from the future before I was ever born. He had already worked His plan in the life and death of a tree. Just as the Lord was so perfect in this timing, He is perfect in His timing concerning you. Be sensitive to His leading, and then obey Him. He will direct your path in His perfect will (Prov. 3:5&6).

To finish my story, I bought the two grave plots. …And if I am laid to rest there, you can be sure that my body will be raised a glorified body to meet Jesus in the air. Amen!”
