April Showers Bring May Flowers (Part II)

I had the privilege of visiting Masada in Israel. It is located on the edge of the Judaean Desert and overlooks the Dead Sea. It was a fortified place on top of a large hill from 37 to 31 BC. The troops of the Roman Empire worked their way up one side of the mountain. When the 960 people saw that their enemy advanced against them, they all chose to take their own lives, rather than become slaves to the wickedness of the Romans.

I sat there on a bench and began to reflect upon what life must have been like there. The sun beat down upon me as the land is truly desert. The ground was hard, cracked, and dry. How could anyone survive in such a barren land? My eyes glanced to a near-by spicket that had been installed in recent years. There was a slow drip of water. Two feet around this area, there was the most beautiful vegetation growing. How could this be? …Because at some time, seed was in the soil. The water allowed the seed to germinate and grow into the green grasses that I saw.

There have been thousands upon thousands of messages that have been preached around our world. The “incorruptible seed” (1 Pet. 1:23) of God’s Word has been sown but much has not ever come forth. Why? It was sown on the hearts of individuals where the enemy (the devil) was allowed to steal it with affliction, persecution, cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches, and/or lusts of other things (Mark 4:14-19).

Satan may have stolen the Word, but Joel 2:25 says, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” I believe that every Word that has gone forth is coming into fruition! The ground of people’s hearts will become conditioned by the washing of the water by the Word of God and the watering of the Spirit of the living God (Eph. 5:26). We read in isaiah 35:1, “The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.” (Is. 35:6; 43:19&20). We see a lot of desert but there is going to be a mighty harvest of the Word. Just as I saw how the seed in the floor of a desert can bring forth vegetation because water is poured upon it, there is going to be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that will allow the Seed of God’s Word to bring forth. Can you imagine the harvest that is getting ready to take place?! Yes, just as April showers bring May flowers (a harvest), our Lord will pour out the showers of His Holy Spirit and a great and mighty harvest will abound. Our God promised in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” His Word will return unto Him accomplishing His desire for mankind and all things. “Even so, let it be done, Lord Jesus!”
