Casting Out Devils
Some people don’t believe that devils are real. They may think that it is some creature that wears a red suit and has a long, forked tail with horns on his head. They may identify him as even being evil. Demons are very real, but they don’t wear the red suits! We read about devils throughout the Word. We see Jesus and the disciples addressing them with the demand to flee. We are instructed by Jesus in Mark 16:17, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…” We may see devils. If we do, we are to demand them to go in Jesus’ name. However, we may not see them, but sense that they are present. How would I know that they are there? As a child of God, we have the Holy Spirit within us and we may sense the presence of darkness. We may experience a feeling of depression, oppression, fear, worry, etc. come over us. Isaiah 61:3 tells us that “heaviness” (depression) is a spirit. I suggest that you resist any devil that is trying to weigh you down with a negative emotion in Jesus’ name. It must flee from you in Jesus’ name.
Jesus also said in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power (authority) to tread (walk on) on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power (strength and violence) of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Jesus said in Matthew 28:18&19, “…All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” Jesus is saying that because all authority has been given to Him, he, in turn, sends you to all of the world in His authority that He gives to you to do the work of ministry, which includes casting out devils. Why would we need this authority if there is no such thing as demons?
Many people are tormented by strange things happening in their homes. (Please see Rays of Light). I have talked to people that have heard something walking across the floor, but there was nothing there that the eye could see. I personally have experienced something leaning over me breathing into my face; yet there would be nothing that I could see. Sometimes things in the house move for no apparent reason. Still yet, people have seen spirits of darkness. I have certainly experienced this, as well. I know from my experience that when I demanded it to go in Jesus’ name, the creature would curl up as if being tormented when I spoke the name of Jesus! …But what is so sad, there are many people that are being tormented by demons, and they won’t share this experience for fear that others will think that they are crazy. I have counseled many people that were afraid to mention seeing demons. I have had the Lord to reveal to me that this is what was going on. When I mention that I have seen demons, I see a sense of relief in their faces that they realize that they are not crazy after all! I have asked these individuals to tell me what they were doing about these devils. They simply say, “I just pray.” “I ask the Lord to get rid of them.” We need to remember that the Lord has defeated demons and given us the authority to cast them out. I tell them to say, “You foul demon of hell, I demand you in Jesus’ name to go. Get out of my house now, in Jesus’ name. For it is written in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” The Word is the Sword of the Spirit. When we speak Scripture, the Holy Ghost takes the Word as a sword and combats the devil. Amen!!! How dare the demons torment God’s children when Jesus defeated all of them. Devils don’t just torment adults, but they attempt to torment children. Listen to your children and if this is what the enemy is doing to them, demand these foul spirits to go from your child in Jesus’ name. They have to go. Praise God!!
