Lord of the Flies (Aug., 2021)

This time of the year, we may deal with flies coming into our houses. You may wonder, “Now, how did that thing get in?” Of course, if you have children that come in and out, you have a good idea how those pesty things get in.

I remember when I was a little girl, a family invited us to have lunch with them. They were very sweet people. They had several children that were in and out of their house. I noticed that they did not have screens on their doors (which most people had in those days), so you can imagine how those flies were always coming into the house. I remember seeing flies everywhere; even sitting on the ceiling of the kitchen.

We tried to eat, but a fly was always buzzing around and often landing on our food.

Did you know, flies poop and vomit wherever they land. Yes, they are annoying, but also nasty. They also torment. If left unchecked, they will lay their eggs in food. The larvae born from these eggs are maggots. In other words, you don’t want to ignore flies that come into the house or land on your food.

Did you know that satan is referred in Scripture as “lord of the flies”? We read in Matthew 12 that Jesus delivered a man that was blind and mute from a demonic spirit. Now, every person that is blind and/or mute does not necessarily have a demon, but it is possible. The man could see and speak after his deliverance. The Pharisees feared Jesus’ fame, and they said that He cast out the devil by Beelzebub, the prince of the devils. In other words, they said that Jesus delivered the man by the power of satan. Jesus asked them how was it that satan would cast out his own demons? Jesus cast them out by the power of God; Holy Spirit.

Beelzebub actually means “lord of the flies.” Beelzebub was a Philistine god worshiped in the ancient Philistine city of Ekron during the Old Testament times. Then Jesus tells us in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Satan desires to steal, kill, and destroy God’s people. Yes, he wants to take all men to hell, but his own are not a threat to the kingdom of darkness. We, the children of Light, are the threat, so he would seek to come against us.

Lucifer (satan) wanted to exalt his throne above the throne of God (Is. 14:13&14). He desired to be Lord because iniquity was found in him. Well, he is a lord alright. He is lord of the flies.

Satan is laying his eggs of filth, corruption, and lies into minds. He desires a harvest of death, disease, and torment; JUST LIKE THE FLY THAT LAYS HIS EGGS WHICH PRODUCE MAGGOTS. How is the devil doing this? By speaking his words into mankind’s thoughts through his lies, strategies, and deceits; thoughts that always contradict God’s Word (God’s thoughts). How do thoughts come? …Through the venue of the mind, words from others, and circumstances. Will we entertain his thoughts or cast them down and render them powerless, in Jesus’ name and meditate God’s thoughts? (2 Cor. 10:3-5). That is the reason that there have been some evil, strong leaders that have even stated, “Give me your children, and I will rule the nations.” But we must guard our children against the evils of this world. We must teach them the Truths of God’s Word. The Lord of the flies is prepared to bombard their minds with his lies; his eggs that produce destruction in their lives, families, and society.
